Anchors Aweigh!
Boaters, fisherman, and swimmers take note... Team Elmer's has reached new depths in West Grand Traverse Bay!
We are proud to have donated a 600-pound concrete anchor system to moor an advanced coastal monitoring buoy in the Bay. The buoy is part of the Grand Traverse Bay Observing System, an initiative of the Great Lakes Water Studies Institute at Northwestern Michigan College.
The anchor was permanently installed 70 feet underwater at the tip of Old Mission Peninsula. The solar-powered buoy will monitor and transmit data - including water temperature at various depths, wind speed, wave action, and more.
