Team Elmer's

Landfill Construction

Team Elmer's has constructed landfill cells throughout the state of Michigan.

We have experience in:

  • Cell creation
  • GCL liner
  • FML liner - HDPE FML (flexible membrane liner)
  • Bi-planar geotextile liner (also known as a geocomposite liner)
    • Type varies
    • Creates a void drainage layer to collection system
    • Fabric protects fines from getting into bi-planar drainage veins
  • Leachate collection system
  • Stone protective layer or sand protective layer
  • Woven monofilament fabric installation

Certifications

  • Confined Space
  • Electrofusion, Butt Fusion, and Extrusion Welding
  • Fresh Air Make-Up Systems (Portable and Stationary)
  • Gas Monitoring Devices
  • H2S Gas Certified
  • Hazwhopper certified
  • Methane awareness training

Expertise

  • Pipe Fusing - landfill
  • Leachate Collection System - landfill
  • Gas Collection System - methane
  • Geosynthetics Installation

Related Services

  • Final cover projects to close landfill cells
  • Final cover or temporary cover
  • Fine grade surface
  • Place adequate protective cover over the cell--apply third party liner that and place two foot protective sand and six inches of topsoil over liner (amounts vary according to site specifications)

GPS

Team Elmer's also employs GPS (Global Positioning System) into our waste water construction projects. The GCS900 (Grade Control System 3D Automatic Control) from Trimble puts design surfaces, grades and alignments inside the cab. You can operate the system in a completely stakeless environment and grade to an accuracy of 0.1 ft.

Bottom line: GPS takes what the engineers and surveyors see on a computer screen and turns it into a hands-on product out in the real world.

How It Works:

1) A design surface is built in AutoCADD from construction plans and is uploaded to the GCS900.

2) We perform a site-calibration on-site. A site-calibration converts the design surface coordinates to GPS coordinates which allows the D6T to know its location relative to the site.

3) The dozer operator can then drive anywhere on-site and know the precise cut or fill to finished grade. The blade of the dozer is controlled by the GPS unit and will follow the design surface.

4) The package also included a Rover unit which can be used on-site separate from the Dozer to check grades, calculate volume of materials, and supply survey stakes.
