Our Commitment to Health and Safety

At Team Elmer’s, our commitment to health and safety starts with pre-employment screening and safety training before putting an employee to work in the field. We also employ a full-time health and safety staff who conducts documented daily job site and monthly plant visits to ensure each of our sites meet or exceed Michigan OSHA standards.

Team Elmer's has clearly defined standards to better identify, assess, and manage risks. These practices include:

  • On-staff compliance manager responsible for environmental issues and permitting
  • Surprise and scheduled inspections reviewing compliance for state and local customer specification

2020 Safety Goals:

  • Daily safety/job hazard discussions prior to the start of each job
  • Reduce reportable incident rate
  • Reduce preventable accidents
  • Maintain a low FMCSA/DOT CSA rating

Employee Screening

Team Elmer's health and safety culture starts on the day of hire and continues throughout the year. Each candidate must complete a physical and a drug test prior to training. All divisions require at least eight hours of safety training before permitting a worker to work in the field.

Drivers: Before starting work, all CDL (Commercial Driver's License) drivers must attend a "New Drivers Training" course, which educates them on the driver qualifications, hours of service rules, health, and wellness practices,  and whistleblower protection provisions by which Team Elmer's operates. In order to earn employment, CDL drivers are required to demonstrate proficiency by driving through a course with a company trainer.

Drugs and Alcohol: At Team Elmer’s, we contract with a third-party company to administer and perform all Alcohol and Drug screening tests. That company, Munson Occupational Health & Medicine, uses a seven panel test to perform our pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, and random (or quarterly) substance detection tests.
